Specific Structural Inspection (SSI)

Where repairs/remedial works, or further investigations are recommended, the report will give budget costs for these, if requested.

When AIM Control’s Chartered Engineers Certificate Is Needed?

If you are planning to export machinery or equipment into India then you will need AIM Control (AIM Group®) Third party inspection is conducted to issue AIM Control (AIM Group®) Chartered Engineers Certificate (CEC). This applies to any equipment that is used, second hand, refurbished or rebuilt. The process of obtaining a certificate should be relatively trouble free and involves an inspection by a Chartered Engineer and the subsequent issuing of a signed and stamped original certificate on letter headed paper.

As an overview AIM Control (AIM Group®) Chartered Engineers Certification Inspection included details of the equipment's original value, it's current value, a description and assessment of condition, the date of manufacture, serial number, details of refurbishment, if any and of course a valid signature and stamp. Whilst alterations to the certificate can be quick and simple, often this causes delays in shipping and so it pays to find someone who has experience of the requirements from the outset.

AIM Control (AIM Group®) inspection involves recording the year of manufacture / markings, investigating reconditioning of the goods (if any), estimating the expected residual life of the goods, valuation appraisal (assessment on the reasonableness of value) and providing a technical description of the machinery. Photographic evidence is also obtained and copy documentation is collated. In an attempt to minimise costly transit damage, the engineer will also witness machinery being packed and/or loaded, in order to confirm that the goods have been correctly, and securely, stowed. Where applicable, packing cases are stamped and containers are sealed. Upon completion of the inspection, our findings are rapidly and accurately detailed in a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate or Report, finally The Chartered Engineer Certificate (CEC) is presented to the client.

AIM Control (AIM Group®) Inspected Chartered Engineer will wish to appraise the equipment and inspect it. Whilst the inspection is thorough, it is not a test of the equipment's ability to perform to specification nor any guarantee that the equipment will function correctly. This can take a number of hours depending on the equipment and will include inspection of any documents and tools for example that may be being shipped with the main goods.

In order to export machinery to India, it is a mandatory requirement of The Indian Government to obtain a Chartered Engineer Certificate (CEC), otherwise machinery will be rejected by customs at the port of entry in India, resulting in costly delays and increased expenditure.
